Kisauni – Mombasa County

☑️ Women Economic Empowerment Project

☑️October Class graduation Ceremony

Congratulations to all 328 October beneficiaries from Bamburi Ward, for successfully completing all the sessions within ‘Resilient Recovery program for vulnerable mothers living in urban informal settlements – Bamburi’

The event was honourably graced by the Kisauni Member of Parliament Hon. Rashid Bedzimba and the area MCA Mbelle Patrick Mwavula. These two local leaders have applauded our work.

The MCA has been actively working with the beneficiaries during the training sessions. He is willing to take up the challenge of continuing with this project even after our exit…truly commendable.

The MP promised to support the women through Uwezo Fund to grow the micro enterprises. He also promised to initiate a conversation and work with the Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir to establish a market space where these women can display and sell their Briquettes, pastry and fresh organic vegetables.

The beneficiaries have been equipped with ovens for bakers, … and garden start up kits for the urban farmers. None of them buys charcoal anymore, because they now apply their newly acquired skills to convert waste around them into smokeless Briquettes for home use and to sell for an income.

Some brought cakes and scones to sell at the graduation event (smart ) they sold out…everything . This assures us that we are letting go of very skilled, informed and passionate entrepreneurs .

We are super grateful to the dedicated team behind this huge success. Association of Women in Agriculture Kenya – AWAK team, County Government of Mombasa Agriculture team, our county champions and the mobilizers . God bless you .

Hongera!!
